Challenge:

A company preparing for public listing on the ASX needed to gauge investor sentiment and communication preferences amongst their existing shareholder base and potential institutional investors. This required highly confidential research with verified stakeholders using the company's carefully managed investor database.

Our Solution:

Given the sensitive and confidential nature of pre-IPO research, TKW's client-list-only methodology was ideal. We received a segmented database of 2,200 current shareholders and prospective institutional investors, implementing strict data security protocols including encrypted file transfer and confidential survey hosting. Our team designed separate survey instruments for retail shareholders and institutional investors.

We managed personalised email invitations from the client's provided list with unique secure survey links, providing a discrete reminder strategy to maximise response without over-communication. Our rapid turnaround analysis was delivered within the tight project timeline whilst maintaining complete confidentiality throughout data collection and reporting. TKW's approach of working exclusively from client-provided lists ensured absolute certainty about respondent identity and stakeholder status, critical for this sensitive corporate communication research.

Results:

Achieved 31% response rate from the client's database (680 completed surveys), with high engagement from both retail shareholders (28% response) and institutional investors (45% response). We provided clear insights into information needs, communication channel preferences, and sentiment towards listing. Specific concerns requiring pre-emptive communication strategy were identified, enabling the client to refine their investor relations approach ahead of public listing.
